How to take

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE before eating unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Be sure to follow your doctor's directions on how many times a day you should take this medicine. Open the packet and pour the contents into a container containing 2 tablespoonfuls (1 oz. or 30 ml) of water. Stir well and drink the entire suspension mixture immediately. If any granules remain in the bottom of the container after drinking the mixture, add a little more water to the container, stir the mixture again and drink it immediately. DO NOT use other liquids or foods to make suspension mixture. DO NOT CRUSH OR CHEW the granules. DO NOT use the mixture in feeding tubes as the suspension may clog the tube. DO NOT prepare the mixture in advance and store for later use. Doing so may destroy the drug and/or increase side effects. DO NOT GIVE THE ORAL SUSPENSION through any feeding tubes. Potent acid-reducing medicines such as omeprazole can decrease the effectiveness of sucralfate, as well as other drugs such as the antifungals ketoconazole and itraconazole. If instructed to take any of these medicines while taking omeprazole, consult your doctor or pharmacist regarding the proper timing of each dose. For example, if you are instructed to take sucralfate in addition to omeprazole, it is best to take the omeprazole at least 30 minutes before your sucralfate. Side effects

SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include constipation or diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Drug interactions

This drug should not be used with the following medication because very serious interactions may occur: atazanavir. If you are currently using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting lansoprazole. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: cilostazol, theophylline, voriconazole, warfarin. Lansoprazole can decrease the effectiveness of certain drugs which require stomach acid in order to be absorbed. Before using this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist on how to manage such a potential interaction if you are taking the following drugs: ampicillin, azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), iron supplements. Missed dose
